eky does not exclude you. “Falling in love” is just a phrase – I’ve never fallen in love – not the giddy-dancing kind anyway – but the kind of love that makes you more, the true kind, it totally happens, and it will happen for you. It may not seem so now. Perhaps you are now helpless, surrounded by people who like you but don’t “understand” you. But it will happen. They are out there – your people. individualized for “Adoption”. (See this early 1980’s New York Times article, CABBAGE PATCH KIDS: BORN FOR ‘ADOPTION’ AT A PRICE ) Another view is that the original inventor of the doll, a Kentucky artist named Martha Nelson Thomas, herself has come up with such a design homemade and homely that “only a mother can love it”, as the saying goes. This type of handwork would have suited the era in which she made them well, as craft designs in the 1970s emphasized a less polished effect, in contrast to the elegant perfectionism of the hard plastic dolls of the 1950s and 1960s. Whimsical soft-sculpture designs were all the rage back then, and “ugly cute” was part of these trends in other stuffed animal products. Martha Nelson Thomas started making what we know as Cabbage Patch Dolls in the early 70’s and she “adopted” them to family and friends. Xavier Roberts saved the design for convenience when she didn’t give him permission to sell her. (There are subtle differences between Martha Nelson Thomas’ early hand-made rag dolls and Xavier Roberts’ rag and later vinyl dolls, but the basic designs are remarkably the same.) Thomas was not interested in mass-marketing the dolls as she was considering these dolls drew individual artistic creations. (Check out this short, compelling VICE story about what happened: The Secret Story of the Cabbage Patch Kids.) From either perspective, marketing genius at bringing uniquely detailed little characters to a mass market, or a work of the heart

What you describe as a sex doll is masturbation – the “robot sex doll” is just an aid in masturbation, just like a bottle of lotion or your favorite porn movie. How is it? Well I imagine it probably feels significantly better than regular unassisted masturbation because a lot of them are very high tech and, well, they’re designed to feel good. Some people have said that the feeling is pretty close to reality
